A major commercial bank · Technical Product Manager
Context : A large commercial bank was operating an enterprise platform used internally by operations and externally by business partners. The platform sat in a heavily regulated environment, with compliance requirements baked into nearly every workflow, and served a mix of non-technical business stakeholders and technical operations teams.
The Challenge: Requirements were consistently arriving late or incomplete, leading to rework, scope creep, and friction between business stakeholders and engineering. The product team needed someone who could bridge the technical and business sides — understanding the regulatory context, the economics of the business, and the realities of the engineering work — and own the roadmap end-to-end.
My Approach: Built a shared understanding of the customer. Ran structured discovery sessions with business stakeholders, operations leads, and partner teams to map customer segments, their workflows, and the compliance constraints they were operating under.
Translated complexity into clarity. Took technical capabilities and regulatory requirements and turned them into simple value propositions and user stories that non-technical stakeholders could engage with productively.
Defined the right KPIs. Set up adoption, usage, and retention KPIs that matched what the business actually cared about — not vanity metrics — and used them to drive prioritization conversations with leadership.
Acted as the bridge. Served as the voice of the user inside engineering discussions and the voice of the product in business-partner conversations, reducing the back-and-forth that had been slowing decisions down.
Outcome: Reduced requirement gaps and downstream rework by approximately 20–25%.
Improved alignment between business stakeholders and engineering, measured through faster sprint sign-offs and fewer mid-sprint scope changes.
Established a documentation and enablement practice that helped onboarding for new partners and internal teams.
Skills Demonstrated: Product management in regulated environments · Technical-to-business translation · KPI definition and tracking · Stakeholder alignment across business, operations, and engineering · Compliance-aware product decisions
